No notification sound #132

The Android App doesn't seem to make a sound when a push notification comes through. It's expected that the app should just use the default notification sound.

The iOS version does play the default notification sound set in settings.

Great product but no sounds on Android client or Fedora 23/24 desktops. No sounds will be a deal breaker I am thinking but Rocket Chat is excellent to use otherwise.

@dmc1961 Fedora 23/24 doesn't have sound on the desktop? Can you open an issue on our electron client?

what about android ? did we get notification sound working ?

What's the status on this? My separate item also was closed, but I'm on the beta channel and audio still isn't working.

Can a Dev reopen this issue? Sounds like it isn't solved, but all the issues related to it have been closed, which means it isn't being tracked as an active issue/feature request.

This is a killer feature for the mobile app. Users expect a sound notification unless they silence their phone. The app is pretty well useless without this. Seems no status is set so no idea on the priority for it ?

Why is no one looking at this? Not having audible notifications is a killer bug. Is there a workaround that we're missing?

I'm excited if this change did fix the notification sound issue. When will the Android and IOS stores get updated? Has a new version been submitted and just waiting for approval?

@himojutsu that change was on the Rocket.Chat server and doesn't require an update to the applications but only your server.

As of Rocket.Chat server version 0.56 the audible android notification on channel message does not work. Android 6.0 on S4 Phone. Current date of this post is June 11, 2017

Any idea why the mentioned fix to server software is not working?
