Description:

I have a critical issue - I am missing message notifications. I posted about it on the forum but unfortunately did not receive any feedback.

I have chats with a lot of people and I do not want to receive notifications from these chats, except in two scenarios:

if I am mentioned
if I ask a question there and receive a reply in the thread

Currently, if I am mentioned, it will not be visible in the desktop application at all. In the mobile application, there will be a red dot, but not in the "unread chats" list, only if I scroll through.

If someone replies to me in the thread, I don't see anything.

Please refer to the forum thread for screenshots of the notification settings.

Server Setup Information:

Version of Rocket.Chat Server: 6.0.0.

Client Setup Information

Desktop App or Browser Version: 3.9.6
Operating System: MacOS 13.2.1

same issue since 4.7.2 version, you can try to rollback your server and client as well to make it work

You are probably hitting this double issue unless you have upgraded to RC 6.3.x. https://github.com/RocketChat/Rocket.Chat/issues/28824

We had missing notifications as well up to version 6.2.12, upgrade to 6.3.2 has them working again.

I cannot confirm desktop notifications work on 6.3.3 Even when i try to send a test notification from preferences nothing appears

@Kot-o-pes The test function doesn't work for me either :roll_eyes: but notifications in regular chat do show up, as popups and with sound.

version 6.3.3 (browser) Checked my cases: notifications disabled, mentions counters enabled

sent a mention to a user with notifications disabled, the user's channel in the channel list was marked with a red circle but did not appear as unread
sent a message in the chat from a user with notifications disabled, replied in a thread from another user - no circles appeared in the channel list, the circle only appeared in the chat area of the specific thread

On this version, I will still be skipping messages Honestly, I don't understand how everything works

If the "Show notifications counter" flag is enabled, it works as expected, but then all other messages, without mentions and without replies in threads, also appear as "unread".

I'm using Rocket Chat 6.3 via Firefox 118.0.2 in private mode. This means that in the past, whenever I opened the page to log in, I've been asked whether I accept notifications being sent.

Now I don't get the question anymore, so I just hear the sound when a new message arrives, but I don't get the desktop notification with the message content.
