I was going to post screenshots of last year's competitors, I'll get to that when I have more time.
Also, I will note that since I'm starting work on this so early, I had hoped to keep everyone's contributions to maybe 2 hours every 2 weeks or so - we all have grades to manage.
Last year I was just trying to make a simple graph that displayed the increase/decrease of water usage over time. But I shot myself in the foot by being over ambitions by using a python library called Plotly that can display itself online, and trying to mount that into a Flask server instance was just too much.
Ok, gang! Here is where we go over what the Minimum Viable Product would look like for our submission to this here USU Water Competition (2019)
There are few reasons I'm putting this together:
So I've gather you all here and if you decide to cast your lot in with me, we'll make an awesome program and split the competition winnings, and get great experience working in as team in the process. I was recently at a job fair and I heard someone ask one of the company representatives ask what he typically finds lacking in the USU grads he hires. The rep replied that USU grads typically lack group work experience. I've worked in teams on a group projects before and on my job, but owing to the fact that most of any future career in this industry is solidly working with people, that's experience I'll get as much of as I can.
So this is to open discussion on what we want to do with the data provided for the competition. Official rules will be outlined in a meeting sometime in January, but I've already communicated with the Dr. Horsbough (the professor with the grant money for the competition) and he said he was going to have this years competition mostly focused on a subset of the data provided for last years competition. I'm open to ideas -
