Punishing those who wish to opt-out of something, well, totally optional (for most plugins, even my own), doesn't help anyone. Personally, I just block bstats.org at the DNS level because of this kind of thing. It's a futile attempt to forcibly collect metrics -- anonymous or not is not up for debate, so this should be seen as an issue to corrected, in my opinion. Justifying it as something you "need" for development isn't the best justification. Hundreds of other developers also use bstats, but never add a 30 second delay at startup for opting out. I question the value and use of plugin metrics for most Spigot plugins, this is no exception, especially now. Looking at MetricsManager, nothing seems to be of critical importance, or anything that can't be determined/obtained through less obtrusive data-gathering. If metrics are a requirement for you to continue development, say so. Remove the option, if you need the data. In the meantime, I'm continuing to block bstats.org at the DNS level because of these atypical decisions. Some people choose/purchase their plugins very carefully, putting trust into strangers, especially so for free software. That decision shouldn't need to extend to third parties you share no affiliation with, especially when it isn't even clear where our data is actually going. The Spigot page says bstats, but data is supposedly sent to mcstats.org too (I've looked, I do know where it actually goes.) lol
