Add support for proximity sensor disable touchscreen and sleep lcd. #218

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
This is a feature request to add support for the proximity sensor to
identify when the phone is adjacent to a users head and disable the LCD
and touch screen. This will prevent users from accidentally dialing
numbers or inadvertently hanging up on users during calls, and as well as
the added bonus of preserving battery life for longer duration calls.

This should be set to type of enhancement -- but it did not give me the option
to
set the case type.

This is something that would be extremely appreciated. currently the phone lcd
does
shut down after about a minute of inactivity, but when you want to hang up a
call it
is necessary to press the sleep wake button to turn the lcd back on, then do
the hang
up. with this feature it would make the experience much more user friendly.

Please note that the Motorola Droid/Milestone have a light sensitive sensor just
above the display to detect of the phone is adjacent to a users head.

It would be nice if such a feature add also support for the light sensitive
sensor of
the Motorola Droid/Milestone (and probably more devices) to identify when the
phone
is adjacent to a users head and disable the LCD and touch screen. I assume that
such
a implementation will give better results than support (only) the proximity
sensor.

Agreed. Proximity sensor is missing. It would allow to put the hold, speaker
etc button on screen thus making the menu button during calls superfluous.

Got the latest update. But on my Galaxy S, the screen goes off for a second
and then comes back on..

doesn't seem to work with Motorola Milestone :(
The screen is constantly on and off. Sleep/Wake button doesn't help either.
Please fix it!

A step in the right direction, but not quite there yet.

My Moto Droid will blank momentarily when I cover the sensor, and then the
display turns back on about 1 second later - and doesn't turn back off again
unless I uncover the sensor and then cover it again - and, then the display
turns back on a second later.

It doesn't work properly with WidgetLocker.

When the proximity sensor kicks in, the screen turns off for a second, but it
immediately turns back on and displays the lock screen.

Not sure if this is a problem with sipdroid or widgetlocker.

Thanks for your attention!

On my Desire with CyanogenMod6.0.2 the screen goes off for a split second and
comes back on. Don't have WidgetLocker installed, so it can't be that :p
