Summary

Suggest keeping this in a different fork for trialing. Was able to download the following in 2h7m before hitting plus endpoint quotas for the day:

• Retrieved 3610 posts
• Retrieved 16277 replies
• Retrieved 2525 plusoners
• Retrieved 0 reshares.

To use

• Disable "Plus" in Resources —> Advanced Google Services (the Requests library interacts with the plus endpoints directly, overwriting that variable)
• Enable Apps Scripts API in console for remote execution (https://developers.google.com/apps-script/api/how-tos/execute)
• Publish as API executable (as indicated above)
• Enable Plus API in console (if not done already)
• Add scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/script.scriptapp to manifest (View —> Show Manifest)

Thanks @brainysmurf but frankly I'm a bit hesitant with this... People are already complaining that the setup is a bit complex and here we would add extra steps that will make things a bit more complex.

Can't we just add pagination on existing calls to retrieve +1, comments and reshares? I don't think the speed of the export matters that much...

Yes, it's a thing about the community, that advanced usage seems to be less risk-taking than other stacks I work with.

It's up to you; you seem to know the end users better. As for speed of the export, if it were to take a few days compared to just one or two, wouldn't that make it more attractive? I have found that getting all the comments can take several seconds and there is a big advantage to having the other endpoint calls happening in child scripts. Yes, that does mean more setup, although pretty standard ones:

• If I change the Plus variable to Plus_ that would prevent users from having to be instructed to turn off the Plus in Advanced Google Services… (I do think that will throw people)
• The instruction to publish as API executable is just a GUI point and click
• The scope is handled by copying the project.
• Are there any other instructions required for the end user? (the ones I gave were for yourself in mind)

As for me, it was interesting to apply those frameworks I wrote to this particular use case.
