I am thinking about implementing this as follows: For the non-bluetooth
devices (power, audio jack, car mode, home dock) I will have a check if the
user wants to launch a bluetooth connection that it will first enable bluetooth
(if not already enabled) then launch the bluetooth connection. On disconnect
it will restore bluetooth to the previous state. If the user does not have a
Bluetooth device set to auto connect, then it will not enable Bluetooth. I
think this will meet the requirement without the need for added preferences or
configuration.

I added this to 2.8.4 and up. Now if you selected a Bluetooth device to
connect to when the first device connects, it will auto-enable Bluetooth if it
was not already enabled. Upon disconnect it will restore the previous
Bluetooth enable state. Please test 2.8.4 in the downloads area here and
report any issues.
