For the visual components, utilize a proper CSS framework such as Material UI or React Bootstrap

It seems that Material UI is already a dependency of the project, so explore replacing the various UI components with those provided by this framework.

We do not have time to re-implement the UI, so I will close this unless it would significantly improve progress on this part of the project.
