I have written some tests cases, since I plan to upgrade Kafka implementation (and probably add features, since I would like to have offset provided by the step).
This is probably very partial, and probably contains mistake. I plan to improve this later, but please feel free to suggest if you consider it can done better.
I also took the opportunity to upgrade to current Pentaho version and updating some deprecated method.
