Prepare Makefile for cross-compilation #86

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I would like to build s3fs for Freetz (http://trac.freetz.org/), but I am
having trouble to cross-compile s3fs in the build environment of Freetz.
See http://trac.freetz.org/ticket/796 for details. User 'er13' remarked:
's3fs' Makefile as it's absolutely unprepared for cross-compilation'. I am
not sure what that exactly means (yet ;-) ), but my request is to make it
suitable for cross-compilation.

It appears that the freetz ticket has been quite active and the s3fs code has
forked into s3fslite: http://github.com/russross/s3fslite#readme (which has
some interesting modifications from the original code).

Is this other development stream is satisfying your needs?

Lately, the packaging and distribution of s3fs has become more standard using
autotools. Try downloading the latest tarball.
