Game Design #4

thought we could flesh out the details for the design of the game. I'm not entirely sure of the consequences of certain designs, like if buildings and stuff are head on, where we see 2 sides, front and top. vs from an angle, where we see front, top, and one side.

this is a decent overview about perspective

First run with Aseprite ^ Those are some good articles. I am thinking a lot of it will be kinda intuitive when making the art though

edit: me dumbdumb, need more think

nice ray gun laser beam^^, looks like Aseprite was a good choice.

I'd say oblique projection because I really think something like this (image) is doable and looks good enough for the basecamp version of the game. image

Although if it ends up looking awkward because of "arbitrary scaling of dimensions and angle proportions" then maybe dimetric. Also that planometric perspective or at least a version of it looks like maybe worth a try: image

I image the battle mode is probably at a different perspective.

Sick sprites! Animation and everything very nice. I agree that ness image is doable, I think I am leaning slightly towards Orthographic tho, only because they said it's what's mostly used for videogame and pixel art and northern guilds chose it too. But I don't have any real justification other than the mentioned threat of distortion when using oblique.
