Issue Description

Update the README.md file to include new information relating to the project. I think it would be great to include badges for GitHub Actions Status, images of the application working, updated formatting, any new commands needed to run/setup the server, a section for acknowledgements, and more.

While doing this, we could also look into updating the run and setup/install scripts to work across different systems with different python commands, etc.
