and authority control Use of `` for authority control is not desirable. It might be possible in cases where `@relationtype` is "cpfrelation", but it is not a desirable encoding mechanism for this purpose. Authority control in such cases would be merely implicit and incidental, while @identifier on and other elements it is explicit. There is also the subtle (and I think more significant) issue of conflating two relationships into one. Relationship being expressed in `` should be between the unit of description and the the object of the ``, whereas an authority relationship is a separate relationship between content of `` and an authority record. In the example below, the target of the `@href` happens to be able to function as an authority record, thus authority control would be possible.
