Share/Borrow Code Example #7

Open shannonrankin opened 5 months ago

Create 1 or 2 examples of how sharing code is helpful:

Where/how to share this? Open Science (video example?) or during workshop?

This is for the Friday Session, suggest these discussion points:

  1. Discuss decisions made in Github session for tasks to work on this next year, identify team members for each Github task
  2. Speed talks for different approaches to Github, for each one, take a poll:
    • [ ] They are Not Interested
    • [ ] They want someone from their FMC to participate (but not themselves, necessarily)
    • [ ] They want to participate
  3. Discuss OpenScapes PAM Cohort next year to tackle Big Project (minimum participation 1 person per FMC), 3 month intensive,
  4. Each year tackle more things with increasing complexity?

Potential Speed Talk Discussions:

I started the bones of a presentation that we can all work on (link here)

Open to suggestions, but my basic thought was that we do a few quick examples (I provided some, can cut the banter one if necessary, but it was a collab between several labs, so it is a decent example) Then discuss our chosen topics for next year Then discuss Openscapes, and our chosen topic for that

Please feel free to add talking points to each scratch slide, to work on your own slide. We'll try to keep each talk to 4 minutes? Just quick show & tell. We'll do polls in-between, and people can comment on Meeting Notes if they want.

open to ideas/suggestions

I really like the Banter example - its unique as a demo of functionally using github in research.

I'll plan to share the draft the report. I think should easy to stay under 4 minutes in case other disucssions need more time. I will plan to render the report the night before (or during a break on Day 3) to make sure we have something share in case there are errors in the real time render.
