The Misfits and OCC team work on Smart Edit and Personalization teams and consume Techne. Pages can take a long time to load which means that users are seeing the Loading component a lot as they move through this app. I started looking up best practices to try to reduce user annoyance.
Here are some features that I would suggest for this component based on research and best practices:
The animation ideally should start slow and speed up to give an indication that something is happening.
If we were to use a bar, user anxiety is reduced by showing a progress bar that shows progress in increments - even if the system can't tell the "real" progress
It's always best to show the time the user will be waiting but some apps can't tell how long so maybe creating a solution that would have both an animation and a time count down but that time countdown could be easily separated out if the team can not support time to load.
