gsm-shield on arduino ide 1.0.4

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. plugin arduino with gsm-shield
2. Open GSM_GPRSLibrary_SMS and upload it on arduino
3. open serial monitor

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see "GSM Shield testing." (As I can see with another pc with 
Ubuntu-12.04 and arduino IDE 1.0) but I see nothing.
I've also tried to send an sms with no results.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm using arduiniIDE-1.04 on gentoo linux.
Mi gsm shield is this

Please provide any additional information below.
I have tried also with arduinoIDE-1.0.5 but nothing change.
I could not downgrade to arduino-1.0
I know that the same shield work perfectly on ubunut-12.04 with arduino-1.0, so 
I think is not an hardware problem.

Does other codes (from Arduino's example) work?
It seems to be not an lib's problem.

Hi,
other codes from Arduino's examples works.
I have not tried them all, but the ones I tried work without problems.
