Response and revision summary: We ever took an analysis in uRPF VRF Mode. It does overcome some of the challenges of SAV between PEs. However, it still has significant limitations on accuracy in many asymmetric routing scenarios. The policies for the mode need to be configured carefully so as to achieve efficient SAV, but the accuracy is still limited and some operational overhead is involved. RFC8704 has taken an analysis on VRF Mode and points out the accuracy gaps of the Mode. EFP-uRPF proposed in the RFC is to narrow the accuracy gaps of existing SAV mechanisms including VRF Mode. Since EFP-uRPF is an improved mechanism of VRF Mode and is also standardized (VRF Mode seems not to be an IETF work), our draft mainly focuses on the analysis of EFP-uRPF. In the revised draft, uRPF VRF Mode is introduced, and the relationship between EFP-uRPF and VRF Mode is also described.
