I suggest replacing these with alternative identifiers such as NCBI taxonomy ids.

I agree that an NCBI Taxonomy ID would be helpful, but without knowing the specific refseq id of the genome it can be very difficult to map the gene ids in the model back to the chromosome.

iAF692 is an important example, because the chromosome is actually obsolete, which would have made mapping the gene Ids to the chromosome even more challenging without that refseq id
