hi developer,

Recently I have been using Carveme to construct a metabolic model for a single microbial genome. However, the nutrient component (Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, chemical formula: C24H38O4) I am using does not have a corresponding BIGG ID, so I cannot perform the necessary gap-filling in my own medium. Can you help me add it so that I can proceed with the analysis? The substance I am interested in is Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, chemical formula: C24H38O4. Look forward to your reply and hope to get your help. Thank you!

According to MetaCyc, the only reaction known to consume Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate is: https://metacyc.org/META/NEW-IMAGE?type=REACTION&object=BIS2-ETHYLHEXYLPHTHALATE-ESTERASE-RXN and there is no known enzyme capable of catalyzing that reaction. If your microbe can catabolize Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, then you might be able to experimentally isolate the enzyme, or perform a comparative analysis with an organism known to catalyze the reaction, such as Rhodococcus erythropolis strain S-1 [1], Gordonia sp ,[2], or certain strains of Pseudomonas and Corynebacterium[3]
