How to deal with environmental missing data for some regions? #11

The species that I will study is distributed along the complex system of fjords and Channels of Chile. These channels and fjords are small and I have been problems to obtained environmental data from zone because the currently available global marine environmental databases (e.g. BioOracle, AquaMaps, MARSPEC) have large gaps in information related to the inner sea along the zone of fjords and channels. I would like to know how can I deal with this?

Cheers,

When you say "small", how small? What sort of spatial grid resolution would you need in the environmental data?

lyrodus commented 5 years ago

I mean, less than 2km. Yes, that sort of the spatial grid resolution

Hmm. GHRSST SST is available at 1km. GEBCO 2019 bathymetry is around 500m. I presume (but haven't checked) that they will have coverage in fjords etc. Beyond those, I'm not sure I have much to suggest. Satellite products that I'm familiar with are coarser than that. Maybe there are some ocean models for the region that you could extract data from? Sorry, that's probably not much help ...
