Hi all,

During our paper work session, we came up with an idea of how to visualize figure 5.

By calculating the percent change of stems by species category (overstory or understory) and displaying the average percent of each quadrat, we hope to clearly display the change in composition from canopy species to understory species, showing regeneration debt.

• [x] Figure 2 - Trends in aboveground biomass over time across the whole plot, the deer exclosure, and top % of quadrats based on dominant species composition (with each area as a separate line in a line graph, X-axis as census year, Y-axis as Aboveground Biomass in Megagrams Carbon per Hectare)
• [x] Figure 3 - Annualized biomass fluxes across time. 4-panel figure, each panel showing a different flux (net biomass change, woody growth, recruitment, & mortality; x-axis is year, y-axis is Mg C/Ha/yr). Each panel will have separate lines for the whole plot, deer exclosure, etc.
• [x] Figure 4 - Dominant genera driving mortality & recruitment trends. 2 panel figure, showing trends in species-level mortality (panel A) & recruitment (panel B), sensu figures from annual mortality census.
• [ ] Figure 5 - Trends in overstory & understory composition. A bivariate choropleth map - with variable 1 representing the change in overstory composition (using regression-fit coefficients) & variable 2 representing the change in understory composition.
