i like this library so im rewriting it to make it more in line with how i do things nowadays

[x] replace standard with prettier
[x] replace standard with eslint
[x] use typescript
[x] replace ava with jest
[x] actually lets give vitest a whirl instead
[x] replace travisci with github actions
[x] throw out useless badges
[x] set up coverage (again)
[x] go over the code, clean it up and the comments
[x] fix up readme
