@luciansmith - for all the The optional child algorithm element defines the algorithm or algorithms used for... is it "algorithm or algorithms" because an algorithm parameter could be another algorithm? Just trying to work out way its phrased this way when there is always 0 or 1 child algorithm element...

Yes--sometimes the root algorithm is a hybrid algorithm with multiple algorithm children.

That said, if you think 'algorithm or algorithms' is confusing, I'm happy to go with just 'algorithm'.

I think perhaps its clearer from a spec point of view to stick to "algorithm" as there is only one child element. Maybe in 2.1.9 we could mention that algorithm parameters could be other algorithms?
