How many variants of Oyster cards are there? - SEIAROTg's blog

You probably have seen many different variants of Oyster cards and wondered how many of them are there in total, and this post is going to answer that by putting together list of them. Edit: Unfortunately, after putting together the list I still cannot give a precise answer as I am now fairly certain that this list is NOT exhaustive. Note that only Oyster cards will be covered, which does not include other cards acceptable by Oyster readers (e.

Does the Barclaycard with Oyster count, or would you not allow that since it wasn't issued by TfL? It's not technically a "contactless card" either as the Oyster was an additional feature of the card separate from the NFC payment.

Good catch! It definitely counts. Fixed.

I don't know if this is genuine, but if the cards in this eBay auction are legit, that means there's three different variations of the "Current" Oyster card...the one with "Transport for London" on the front and both the roundel and the national rail logo

I'm not going to count the different coloured serial numbers as different variants...but it looks like there's one with "Transport for London" on one line on the back, one with "Transport for London" spread across two lines on the back, and one with "Transport for London" on one line, and the Oyster logo and "Use where you see this symbol"

Good point. I'm aware that cards can have differences on the back but every authoritative source I read does not mention that difference, with picture on the back very rarely displayed. Given that, I decided not to further divide the current generation blue Oyster card, in the fear of digging into a huge rabbit hole to collect and validate every style that ever appears on the market - maybe every batch is slightly different?

Happy to revise if you (or anyone) can share more information about those different back.
