responsive layout

With the move to bootstrap 2.0 one of the things we haven't taken advantage of yet is it's built in responsive layout support.

I think it's just something we need to enable.

I'm not sure how to do it as I think it requires recompiling in less. Alex is this something you could help with?

Also, we might want to consider moving to less for our css. Alex is that a good idea you think?

I am pro-less. We have a few ways we could do it:

• Straight less (requires node and a compilation step before pushing CSS changes to production)
  • allows us to take advantage of less.js to make CSS development quicker (by auto-refreshing some changes when in DEBUG mode)
  • requires a compilation step before pushing CSS changes to production
• django-compressor
  • when properly set up, this handles the compilation of less files
  • helps cache static files with unique IDs.
  • adds a few non-python dependencies
• django-pipeline
  • never used it before, but apparently has been configured to work with less
  • requires node and lessc binary on the development and production servers

I'll discuss with the team to see what we think would fit best.

• where are we at the moment (with respect to responsive layout)?
• what needs to be done?
