fix layout #36

reduce space between tables etc. various issues

move search bars up so the guidance text has more space to expand without turning into multiple lines

still need to prevent horizontal scrolling in matches list, but am out of ideas atm

No, it's seems resolved! I ended up with something similar 69c53910f7c47104a852245dcb98fc5fc6027360 (but that branch should not be merged). Some odd stuff was happening with dl dt and dd elements.
