Describe EML link example #2

Add more on what this EML link represents above the comic in the What is Metadata? section.

andGarc commented 3 years ago

Should the name be KNB and not EML?

andGarc commented 3 years ago

Replaced the KNB link with this link to a better example for EML. Added what EML stands for, Ecological Metadata Language.

The link (https://knb.ecoinformatics.org/external//emlparser/docs/index.html) used to go to a document defining EML. Now it redirects to the main KNB repository for some reason. Looks like your new link goes to the EML R package. I would like to link to the definition of EML itself, not the R package. Is it possible to find that?

It looks like the link eml.ecoinformatics.org is actually a good one -- it is a bookdown that describes the pacakge and the very first thing you see when you go there is a definition of EML

I find the badging in particular quite confusing on that site, because it's for software. All I'm looking for is essentially what's in the Wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecological_Metadata_Language Maybe just using that text would suffice, rather than linking out. I was trying to be concise before.

I found a web archive with more information here. This site by DCC actually links to KNB under specification. This one is a little more detailed.

The last 2 have information similar to the Wikipedia page.
