I re-read the message on the welcome page and used what I think is the correct URL for the remote site setting - but this didn't help
We have a custom domain, too, and I'm also getting this error.
My issue resulted from the fact I did not have API access enabled. When I got access it worked fine.

@nickdelf your first attempt is the correct fix - sounds like you may also have not had API access on your profile as well. I will make sure the page is updated to add a note to check this as well.
Improved this experience and new Wiki page - see v2.13 release notes here https://github.com/afawcett/declarative-lookup-rollup-summaries#packaged-release-history
Hello, I have just installed your app, but when clicking the tab: Manage Lookup rollup summaries, I encounter this error:Salesforce Metadata API connection failure, click the link below to configure. I have read other posts here and saw a suggestion that a custom domain may be causing the problem. We use a custom domain (our company URL), but I don't see how I can change his to test.
I also note that when trying to create/update a remote site setting from your welcome tab, does not work. I was able to create one manually ion salesforce, but don't know which site to use (the one I used I took from the post I was reading, but this may be specific to the user in the post).
I am using 'professional' Salesforce and plan to select process builder to avoid Apex.
Any help/guidance would be much appreciated. thanks
