openage is still not available for Apple Watch®! #302

Hello,

I recently bought an Apple Watch and I'm very disapointed to see that openage is not available for Apple Watch. This is outrageous! I paid US$17k for this device and I can't play my favorite game on it.

This is very disapointing, considering the Apple Watch have a touch screen, I see no reason why no one have ported openage yet for it.

This issue is, of course, a complete joke. I don't even own an Apple device. Keep up the good work guys.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Did you consider joining the official Apple® Developer Programs™ so you can provide us the necessary information to start a port? I fear most information we require is available only after paying a fee which will help Apple® to select the developers willing to sell their souls and paying money for it. On second though, if you're telling us this information probably violates your contract and you'll be sued to death.

But before we can deliver a truly vindicated user experience, we have to overcome the hurdles of the induitive and easy user input of the Apple Watch®, but Apple® has managed to be accepted without a right or middle-click before.

Another valuable contribution would be some kind of mind-reading library as playing openage as a leisure game in public transport is another big goal we have, but external text input devices tend to be unavailable in these places.

Thinking of public transport, we really have to power-optimize openage, ideally to catch the positive energy of the player to supply the Watch® with some extra juice. Otherwise, the playing experience will end after approx. ten minutes. If we're unable to absorb the energy from the player, alternative approaches like supplying a small black hole (see Aperture Science's handheld portal device) can be considered.

Anyhow, thanks for your request. We can use this as a tracking issue for all the problems you unveiled. SFTtech is looking forward to deliver one of their most successful products for the hardware world's most awesome product of the year, the Apple Watch®.

Thank you for your answer.

I'm surprised that Apple doesn't provide the necessary information to write a port since this company cares a lot about its consumers and also because it's not hard to write apps for iPhones (I assume they are the same device, since an Apple Watch needs an iPhone to be functionnal). Also, I don't see why it would be bad to sell your soul, blood and mojo to Apple since the Apple Store is the one and only true meritocracy. Age of Empires 2 is a fantastic games, therefore I'm sure everyone will be wiling to pay USD$0.99 for a copy of openage. Take a look, for instance, at Angry Candy and Birds Crush, they are very popular games because they are fantastic little gems. openage will obviously have the same fate if you want it.

I completely agree that openage should start to focus on mind-reading input to play openage silently. I myself installed to voice-recognition software on my computer to start playing all my favorite games without having to touch the keyboard or mouse. But it gets complicated when I want to play in a public library or during my breaks at work because I have to yell really close to the microphone and people think I'm crazy of something.

Maybe the SFTtech should start a Kickstarter in order to develop their own mind-reading device. After all it's not that hard and this kind of devices have already existed for years with very accurate results. As for the battery issue, a documentation should be included with openage to teach end-user how to build their own free energy devices. SFTtech should also integrate the SETI@home project into their code base in order to communicate with aliens, and learn once and for all how flying saucers works.
