The current 1.2 V regulator is a very small package and gets quite hot. Replace with a larger, more efficient part.

Current capacity: 500 mA 1.2 V from 3.3 Linear

Has nice thermal limits, auto thermal shutdown, larger package that shouldn't get as hot.
