Are you sure there is no background downloader running when you start WMV ?
Have you tried o restart your computer then launch WMV (without launching WoW
at any time) ?

launching WoW)but It doesn't work, there's still the same Fatal Error

the message: Initializing File control

After reinstalling WMV, it olny crashes, I launch it, then I load WoW, but it
crashes after loading the MPQs, I can see the message: Initializing file
control, and then it shuts down

PS: I'm in a EU version of WoW right now (french), could it be the problem ?

Yes, I meant, playing Wow, without having WMV launched of course ;)
What does axactly happens now (with dev version). Your log says "everything
OK". You get a crash when you try to load WoW from menu, right ? THis should be
written in log.txt file

Do you have a question about using cahe file or not when trying to load WoW ?
If yes, try to say No for cache using (it seems there is a problem with one of
your cached file if I correctly interpret log.txt file)

Just launch WMV (without loading wow when prompt for), then go to Options menu,
select Settings...
This open a window in which you have a lot of files, remove all the one
begining with Cache\

oO this problem is really strange... no more idea for the moment, and I haven't
a WMV dev env here (at work), so I have to check on sources why this knid of
things can happen...

Okay, it looks like it's loading WoW and finding the TOC version. (Yay!) Now it
just needs to build the controls and the databases. It should look like:

13:21:43: Loaded Content TOC: v4.02.00
13:21:43: Loaded Content Version: 14545
13:21:43: InitMPQArchives result: Successfully Initialized.
13:21:43: Initializing File Controls...
13:21:46: Warning: Failed to load user skins
13:21:46: Initializing Databases...
13:21:52: Finished initiating database files.

So is it just crashing right now? Can you give us a screen shot of the error
message Windows gives you?

Thx

Hi,

Don't know if this could help, but there may have been modifications in the way
mpq files are encoded recently:
- On one side, I have an old install of WoW (up-to-date of course). Installed
it from the DVDs at version 3.0
- On the other side, I have a brand new version of WoW, that I downloaded on
Blizzard's website a few days ago
- Both are stored on the very same computer

With this setup, using either the Stormlib SDK or the program MPQ Editor,
everything's fine when opening and reading the file (listfile) in
expansion2.mpq, for instance, on my old install.

On my new install however, the Mpq Editor only gets the files indexes
(FileXXXXXX) instead of the filenames, and the file (listfile) is visible but
not readable. Plus, the editor takes much more longer to open the mpq.

Hope this helps.

Found the solution, I've reinstalled WoW from Battle.net and it works
perfectly, the problem came from my enFR files, I loaded the enUS files, and it
finally works !!!! THX everybody ! :)

Seems to be linked to this demand : http://apoklipse.org:8080/browse/WMV-70

Done this one, good thing you can use WMV :)
