No indication of new messages in main torchat buddy list window #27

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. edit torchat.ini and set open_chat_window_hidden = 1
2. show torchat, and watch buddy list while waiting for new messages
3. hide systray icon

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect the buddy icon to flash when I receive a message. Instead, when a
message arrives, there is no indication of it in the main torchat buddy
list window. The systray icon flashes, but if it's hidden, there's no way
to see this. All TorChat functionality should logically be available in the
main window. Systray icon functionality should be considered an "extra"
method of using main window functionality.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

0.9.9.149 windows

Please provide any additional information below.

It is important that this be fixed since windows frequently will
automatically hide systray icons after a short period of time. Some people
may use other software, such as PS Tray Factory, to hide their icons. There
is numerous other "boss key" software that is often used to hide chat
programs.

yes, this is true. i will make the buddy show new events and also put the
missing
"quit" menu item into it's menu.

btw: "short period of time": on xp it seems to take days of inactivity until it
starts hiding icons, so I will need some months to debug the hiding and
not-reappearing behavior.
