torchat is fine but you have to get the new tor files. easiest: get the new tor
browser bundle and install it (just overwrite is fine, but backup if you like).
then
get the /Tor Browser/App/tor.exe and tor-resolve.exe (new file with this
release) and
overwrite/add them to torchat /bin/Tor directory. as long as you come on line
within
a few minutes you're connected, though other people may be offline.

Sorry, but this problem still exists for me in both the win and linux torchat
versions running the latest tor release of this date, v 02.1.23. Even then it
takes
hours for other users to connect -and most of the time they never connect.
This is
true even though they are also running the latest version of tor.exe.
BTW, tor-resolve.exe is not included in the torchat win or linux downloads. Why
would it be necessary now?
In any case, the developer really should update torchat; it has no hope at all
of
running without the latest tor.exe included. It also has many other bugs and
shortcomings which are listed on this site,

the newest release uses tor-2.2.19-alpha, this will fix the problems (if your
buddies update too)
