Do I need to create a backup data beforehand to cope with the brick?

Actually I read the documentation related to recovery several times but I didn't understand it well.

It has a simple explanation of the features, but I had a hard time figuring out what order to go through.

It would be nice if you could include in the recovery documentation the steps to use the recovery tools.
