Description
Extended the XRayAtomicGasMix medium (modelling neutral gas atoms with Z < 31) with all fluorescent lines that have line energies above 0.1 keV. Included 20 fluorescent lines per element (i.e. all possible lines, except for the three L->L lines that are always < 0.2 keV, and thus outside the detectable X-ray range with XMM, Chandra, XRISM, Athena,...): Ka2, Ka1, Kb3, KB1, Kb5II, KB5I, Lb4, Lb3, Lb10, Lb9, Le, Lb17, Lb1, Lg5, Ll, Lt, Ls, La2, La1, Lb6. The yields of all lines towards L2 and L3 are corrected with a factor 2/6 and 4/6, respectively, to account for the total L2,3 photo- absorption cross section by Verner et al. (1995, 1996) used in SKIRT.
Motivation
Many of these new lines will be detected with upcoming microcalorimeter missions such as XRISM and Athena, and should be modelled with SKIRT.
Tests
We have re-ran the SKIRT - RefleX benchmark from Vander Meulen et al. (2023), and found similar results (but now SKIRT matches the RefleX L-lines between O Ka and Ne Ka).
We attached a Test case .ski file visualising the new SKIRT lines (see also NewLines.pdf). We have measured the simulated line ratios, which agreed with theory.
Context
Also the SKIRT reasource file "XRay_FL.txt" needs to be updated (attached below).
