As discussed during our last committee meeting, the photos with red filters don't work very well as background images: they're not very high quality, photos are too distracting as background, and the red breaks away from the sleek grey and white design.

Several parallax in a row also give a weird effect, and take up a lot of space at the bottom of the page.

Imo the grey and white you had in the previous versions worked best.

Possible approaches we could take:

Blur the original photos a bit
Use greyscale/sepia
See if Chris has higher quality photos, though I doubt that somewhat
Not use photos for background and work them into the layout (I'd be sad to have to do this, but it could work - I'm thinking equally split rows with photos and text)

Anything else we could try?

If this is the right way to go, it makes this issue somewhat more straightforward. It might just be a case of putting background-blend-mode on the existing backgrounds. Otherwise, we'll have to rethink this very heavily.
