Data Definition UL not defined #1

ST 377-1 states "A document which defines the Container Specification for the data Essence will define or reference Data Descriptors and the appropriate Data Definition term to be used in the Sequence and Segment."

ST 429-14 does not define a value for "Data Definition" property in "Structural Component".

In particular, should "Data Definition" always be "Data Essence" or should it signal the kind of essence contained in the Aux Data Track File.

Note: ST 429-14 references ST 377:2004. not 377-1. The text referred to above does appear in ST 377:2004, section D.5, but it is an informative note and appears to refer to applications where data is embedded in other essence types. ST 377:2004 defines the Data Definition property of the Data Essence Descriptor to be 'Data Essence'. Not sure what the problem is here.

What should the value of the Data Definition item in Aux Data Track Files?

I misspoke above. ST 377:2004 defines the Data Definition property for the Data Sequence and Source Clip to be 'Data Essence'. Where is the Data Definition property you are referring to?

As I mentioned,, this already appears to be defined by ST 377:2004 to be 'value = Data Essence'. Am I misreading the table?

Ah. Definitely a difference with ST 377-1, which does not contain value = Data Essence.

Ok with me to close this issue, although it might be good to add a note to the document emphasizing that the constraint above applies regardless of the essence stored in the Aux Data Track File.

Because ST 429-14 now references ST 377-1, the document should specify that Data Definition == Data Essence

In-line with what was discussed during February 2nd 2023 27C Documentation Maintenance meeting, it feels that this specific ST 429-14 issue should be closed and replaced with the new/wider ST429-20 issue below:
