Other Examples of Items Ordering Difference #13

Related to section 6.2, the following items also appear in a different order in ST 377:2004 (there could be more – as expected, I was not able to perform a full comparison with ST 377:2004 in 2 weeks), and in the spirit of trying to identify as many differences a possible, we may want to add them in section 6.2 as additional examples:

. GenerationUID item in Essence Container Data set and in Generic Package set.

. Sequence item in Tracks definition based on Generic Track set, when more than just the Generic Package set items are present - for example in Track (picture), Track (sound), Track (data), Track (time code), and Track (DM). FYI: see also note about Track spelling differences at the end of my comment about section 6.3.

. Duration item in Source Clip set – FYI: in ST 377:2004, “SourceClip” set name is written without space character between “Source” and “Clip” (not sure if we should point this out).

. Rounded Timecode Base and Start Timecode in Timecode component – FYI: “Timecode component” set name, “Start Timecode” and “Rounded Timecode Base” item names are respectively written “Time Code Component” “Start Time Code” and “Rounded Time Code Base” in ST 377:2004.

I am not sure that identifying all editorial differences is a good idea since it distracts from differences that are substantive.

This is most likely a topic to discuss with the group on June 10. I don’t have a strong opinion, however, I did forward this info to our Dolby development team, and I was just expecting it to be useful for other implementers too. It is indeed “editorial” on the paper, however, the fact that Set items can be in any order may not be that obvious for everybody, and could possibly break implementation I think – taking also into account that these items are heavily used – picture/sound/data tracks, … If the group sees a benefit of itemizing them, we could revise the current example to read as follows maybe:

EXAMPLES: Among possibly other items, the order of the following items differs between SMPTE ST377-1:2019 and SMPTE ST 377:2004: . the Duration item in DM Segments and in SourceClip Sets . the GenerationUID item in Essence Container Data Set and in Generic Package Set . the Sequence item in Track (picture), Track (sound), Track (data), Track (time code), and Track (DM) . the Rounded Time Code Base and Start Time Code items in Time Code Component Set

The revised section 6.2 does resolve my comment, thank you.
