"to a maximum" input field not on server Import dialog #229

[Moved from http://nodexl.codeplex.com/discussions/560783 -- Tony]

Steps: NodeXL ribbon/Data/Import/dialog "Import from NodeXL Graph Server"

The radio button "to a maximum of" isn't followed by a text input box. I could've sworn I've seen it there before...

NodeXL Excel Template 2014, Version 1.0.1.332

thanks guys!

[tcap479@8/10/2014] Hello, Pierre:

I've attached an image of the dialog box as it appears in NodeXL version 1.0.1.332 on my computer. Does it not look like that on your computer?

[pierredv@8/10/2014] Great, thank you Tony. I wanted to add a screenshot, but couldn't figure out how, short of uploading an image to the web.

It doesn't look like that on my laptop; see screengrab Capture1.png. It does look like yours on my desktop.

I suspect it's because the laptop is a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro with a very high res screen (3200 x 1800). I had noticed some problems with other dialogs and some of the tooltips, and was meaning to mention it to Marc when I chatted to him again.

I can't find the other dialog offhand; I'll keep my eyes open and grab it when I see it. There was text in a box that was cut off by the edge of the box.

For the tooltips example, I'll attach that to another comment; seems I can only do one attachment at a time.

The problem, I suspect, is that I've used the Windows settings (and sometimes Office settings; as always with Windows, there are multiple places to change things...) to increase my system font size. Depending on how the dialogs you're using are implemented, sometimes they use the system font, and sometimes they don't; and sometimes stuff resizes properly, and other times not. I've noticed similar problems with a number of apps, e.g. Adobe Acrobat, where some type comes up a readable size, and other is minute (but the number of pixels that are perfectly readable on a typical screen.

[pierredv@8/18/2014] Hi Tony

Here are two more files showing some of the effects I'm seeing on the Yoga 2's 3200x1800 screen (1) the export to Graph Gallery - note the text on the radio buttons at the bottom is cut off

[pierredv@8/18/2014] (2) the Document Action panel - note that the text is legible (because I maxxed out the size in Windows), but the icons are minute (and lost in some cases) because they're a fixed pixel size

thanks for all your help Pierre

[pierredv@8/20/2014] Tony, here's another data point relating to high res platforms

I export to Graph Gallery using the "I may be exporting other images, I want them all to be the same size" setting. However, the same source file exported from different machines yields different font sizes in the snapshot image (same Options file, best I've been able to impose it):

3200 x 1800: https://nodexlgraphgallery.org/Pages/Graph.aspx?graphID=25572 1280 x 1024: https://nodexlgraphgallery.org/Pages/Graph.aspx?graphID=25759

As you can see, a file exported from my high res Yoga 2 is pretty much illegible; is there any way around this?

FWIWI I'm also very confused about how font size settings on the PC transfer to font size on Graph Gallery - the machine's screen resolution seems to affect things...

thanks so much Pierre
