[mwahab1@8/9/2015] OK....lesson lerned. You don't start NodeXL directly from Excel... Instead Start Menu -> All Programs-> NodeXL Excel Template.
[mwahab1@8/9/2015] The solution was at https://nodexl.codeplex.com/workitem/19828 I have excerpted portions below. Title was about some other issue, but Tony answered both the issues, luckily.

On the Kite Network Example problem, please see "About Excel's Trusted Locations" at http://nodexl.codeplex.com/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=72820.
On the missing NodeXL tab problem, you have to start NodeXL from the Windows Start menu. In Windows 7, click Start menu, then "All Programs", then "Microsoft NodeXL,” then "NodeXL Excel Template."

I installed NodeXL on a Windows 7 64 bit running Office 2013/Excel 2013. Install went fine ...but when I open MS Excel...I don't see a NodeXL ribbon or tab.
When I create a new doc (File -> New) , I don't see a template or anything NodeXL.
Any ideas?
When I downloaded and opened one of the datasets(Kite) , I still don't see the NodeXL tab/ribbon. I don't see NodeXL as an add-in. (Not sure if I should or not).
Appreciate all help!
