code refectoring and test coverage improvements #12

General improvement and refactoring:

Unused functions have been removed.
More tests have been implemented aimed to improve the coverage.
Fixed a bug for selecting the orbitals.
The CI workflows files are also updated.
Documentation is only deployed when push is made to the main branch.
