This information is currently accessible through the help file for each data set, but only inside R after you've installed the package.
You can also get the raw version of the help file in the package repository man folder, but that's not a place people would look who aren't already comfortable with R.
Given the work that's already gone into drafting these data descriptions, it would be great to make them more accessible in stand-alone set of pages that's easier to access for a wider audience (and findable via search engines?). A good example are the data summaries on the OSD Data products page
