General management rules and characteristics

A “confirmed case” with a positive laboratory result can never be changed in a “not a case”. However, the outcome should be set to “recovered” if there is a negative result after the quarantine period/recovery.
If cases with re-infection have to be identified: Data base export under “Statistics”: Export case and person tables, merge the tables and then perform analysis using the person ID.
Case data: Current position “health facility” where a case is staying: e.g. home, hospital, quarantine facility. When the place has changed, the user has to go to the case data, change current position, e.g. change the health facility and save. A dialogue box will appear (infrastructure data have changed) and it will give the option to either edit a case (“click edit data”) or to transfer a case “transfer case”. The change will be shown in the tab “Hospitalization” in a list under “previous hospitalization”.
Case data: The system will show the location of the health facility where a case was identified on the map if a health care facility has been chosen under “health facility”. If no health facility has been selected, a case will be shown at the location specified by the “report GPS latitude/longitude”.

Item description

Case ID: the case identification number is unique for each case. It is system generated and should not be used in any abbreviated form. This number cannot be edited by the user.
EPID number: a unique number to identify cases of a specific disease. It is automatically generated, but it can be edited according to the regulations/nomenclature of the local health department.
Date of report: the earliest date that the case was made known to a public health authority (e.g. hospital, local health department, clinician etc.)
Reporting user: user account that registered the case in SORMAS
Classifying user: user account that classified the case from “not yet classified” to any other classification
