SORMAS (Surveillance, Outbreak Response Management and Analysis System) is an early warning and management system to fight the spread of infectious diseases.
AEFI stands for Adverse Events Following Immunization. Managing AEFIs effectively and efficiently is a crucial part of all vaccination programs to maintain the public's trust in immunization. It is important because it helps to ensure that vaccine products are safe and are being safely administered. AEFI module in SORMAS will support the Investigation, Analysis, and reporting of AEFI cases at national and sub-national levels. The SORMAS AEFI module helps to collect AEFI case-based reliable data as per WHO guidelines which help governments in decision-making on all levels.
Use cases
SORMAS AEFI module is used to capture, store, and analyze data on Adverse Events Following Immunization. Every AEFI case can be tracked with a unique identifier. District immunization officers can enter the data into the AEFI module which would live updated to the national level. National regulatory institutions can use this module for decision-making, policy-making, and AEFI surveillance performance assessments. AEFI module will have all standard data indicators and a dashboard that facilitates the analysis. The data will be represented in a tabular form with search and all required filters. It will have the ability to import and export the AEFI case data from/to another system. AEFI module would be available in the SORMAS mobile app as well as offline usage.
