Frequent cycling into "Failed" state for DMS signs #15

Closed mgallagher01 closed 1 year ago

mgallagher01 commented 3 years ago

For a large number (total unknown, but likely more than 50) of signs, the communication status moves to "Failed". These may return to "Available" or "Deployed" on their own, but will generally respond to a manual poll.

Unclear if there are polling/comm parameters that can be adjusted to compensate for this.

Sent list of likely "failed" signs to NDOT. There's still an odd cycling that seems to occur on every poll interval.

Info from AmSig indicates that TCP connections are not supported by signs. Since this feels like a "decompostion"-like problem we should look into whether IRIS is using composite objects for its getStatus operations. Maybe AmSig can do something in firmware.

Updated code deployed on 8/19/21. Appears to resolve issue, so marking as closed.

Closed by MRG pending any further trouble reports.

Patch not included in 5.32.0. Need to work to upstream this.

I think we're just waiting on a new point release that has our fix for this included. Will close this when we verify it's fixed in the next rev of IRIS.
