I received a request from @hsidky to feature a link to the documentation in the main navigation bar so it's easier to find. So, I've made an independent documentation page (docs.html) which now has links where all the other top level html pages are linked. There is some redundancy between this page and download.html, but I think it's okay - more convenient places to find the documentation isn't a bad thing.
I also think this plus older updates fully addresses #12.
