Start Hack SBB:

Bike space reservation system

Forecast the latest chance to get you bike reservation (on IC)

Current:

Mandartory (On most IC) reservation Limited capacity Unknown available spaces Weather / Weekends / Holidays Multiple bookings -> unused spaces Small costs (2 CHF) No-shows

Process:

App -> Connection -> “reservation required” -> 2Fr. reservation -> QR-Ticket

If no spaces: Error message on buy.

If multiple not clear how many more available

Solution:

Analytics based

Indepentent (Outdated backend)

Forecast the latest chance to get you bike reservation (on IC)

-> Published on seperate Site

-> Reduce unused spaces, Internal optimization, Flatten the curve of demand

Data sources:

Historical data: CSV (booking time, routes, number of spaces), from 2020, Data from 2019* for specific

Capacity (current): actual capacity data (errors in Data) (DON’T USE)

Train formation: Number of bike hooks, etc

Timetable, APIs

Open journey planner
