I often search for a word or phrase I know is in the Bible but I can't find it because I don't have the correct versions open.
This feature would search EVERY Bible in the language of the top Bible, to find a word or phrase, whether that Bible is open or not.
Even Bibles for which STEPBible has no licence (eg NKJV) could be installed for searching, so long as the text isn't displayed.
Imagine you wanted to look up: "he gave him the name Jesus". You aren't sure which Bible version is in your head (KJV, NIV, ESV etc) so you'd need to load a large number of translations so that STEPBible searches them for the the phrase.
You could of course search for the individual words: "gave AND name AND Jesus". But this finds nothing in ESV (which has “he called his name Jesus”). You could look for: "Jesus AND name" – but this gives lots of results.
Or imagine you wanted to search for “propitiation”. This occurs in the ESV at Rom.3.25; Heb.2.17; 1Jn.2.2; 4.10 but not at all in NIV, and KJV doesn’t have it in Hebrews.
All these have links except NKJV for which STEPBible has no permission to host.
Clicking on "propitiation" would add all the linked Bibles to the display, and show the list of verses
Clicking on a Bible in the first line would add that Bible to the display, and show the list of verses
Clicking on a reference would add all the linked Bibles to the display, and show that verse
Clicking on Bible next to a reference would add that Bible to the display and show that verse.
