Amzi is now largely Open Source. However, I'm not sure whether the Amzi tutorials provide a good start for a modern-day Prolog intro.

The expert systems tutorial is popular. It's really one of the few approachable things out there on making an expert system, and often an 'on ramp' to attract new users. Unfortunatley, the online version is a choppy 'condensed' version of the material in the Merrit book. I found the online tutorials confusing when I was a beginner, and only got straightened out when I found a paper copy of the book.
