Yupp, that's correct. BTstack gets stuck somewhere during the initialization of
the Bluetooth module. I hope to find some time to look at that in more detail
in the next time. Until then, I recommend staying on 5.1.1 unless you're a
developer and need to fix your stuff for iOS 6 (I have a iPod Touch 4 with 6
for that, too).

Apple changed the way BTServer communicates with BlueTool in iOS 6. Before,
BlueTool had a simple text interface, now some binary communication takes
place. I wouldn't mind getting help by experienced reverse engineering people.
Similar to my new BTC Mouse & Trackpad (http://ringwald.ch/cydia/mouse), I plan
to convert all BTstack-based products to use my new Bluetooth Companion (BTC)
approach for a better user experience (like using your headphones with the GPS
etc..).

Hi. here's a quick heads-up. It looks like that the new BlueTool still reacts
to the older style of commands.
Here's a test version: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5138628/BTstack-0.5-1688.deb
With this, all BTstack-based apps should basically work. It looks like there's
a problem powering Bluetooth down, so it might be needed to enable Apple's
Bluetooth and then turn it off to make sure Bluetooth is really powered off.
That said, Apple changed something in the way apps are allowed to run in the
background. All of my apps, incl. BTstack GPS, get killed by SpringBoard after
10 seconds, so an update is needed there. I don't know if Backgrounder works on
iOS 6 yet, that might be a worth a try.

on 26 Oct 2012 at 8:19
thanks!! that worked for me.
so far (for me), the btstack gps app doesn't get killed by the springboard. i
just went on a 30min drive and it didn't crash or get killed. hope it stays
that way.
Thanks again! :) I really appreciate it.

Hi, can someone clarify the situation for me pls? I bought a new iPod touch 4g
which unfortunately has iOS 6 on it pre-installed so no downgrade for me. I was
really looking forward to using a bluetooth GPS with it - but don't know if I
can now? Does comment 10 give a download which works?
(I haven't even jailbroken the ipod yet so don't want to unless I know this
will work).
Thanks.

new test version: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5138628/BTstack-0.5-1693.deb
It pauses at least 10 seconds before re-enabling BTstack after it was used
before as it sometimes did hand in that case.
@jezzastone - looks good. you can start jailbreaking your device.

Hate to sound like a newbie, but what exactly would I do to get that file in
comment 13 working? Is it as simple as dropping it in a particular folder on
the ipod, or does there need to be some compiling and stuff going on? Thanks.

This is how I did it
1. Install iFile from Cydia
2. Come back to this page (from your iPod/iPhone) click on that link
3. Select " open in iFile"
4. After iFile opens up click on the deb file and click on installer
5. After it installs, reboot and it should be working.

So I have an iPhone 3GS, and probably caused this upon myself... but all since
I updated to iOS6, my Blutrol+iControlPad duo no longer works. For those that
don't know, it's a Cydia app that allows us to take the "suck" out of iPhone
gaming by mapping iControlPad's buttons to touch-screen actions. On the latest
version of Blutrol, it operates on BTstack as opposed to regular bluetooth.
Of course, I only found that BTstack works differently after updating.
All the steps to connect will appear to go through and - with the BTstack
version in #13 - I can get Blutrol to recognize my iControlPad in the correct
mode... but it won't actually work.
Is this something that could potentially be solved with an update to this
BTstack, or is it likely something wrong with Blutrol?

The problem with iOS 6 was that BTstack got stuck during init. This is solved
with the .deb above. If Blutrol doesn't work, please post a packet log of a
connection setup. See here:

I'd like to purchase the full version but because I run it on ios 6 cydia

Is there a way to purchase BT Stack outside of my device?

I'm not totally sure what happened but either I'm loosing my mind or my web
hoster did revert some files. There's a new 1.7.1 out soon. Please install that
one.
No idea about "lagging". BTstack GPS uses the time and location information
from the GPS. (There have been no changes with regards to this in a while). And
that's certainly a different issue.

@shineshine - BTstack Mouse doesn't work on iOS 6 and I won't update it as
there is BTC Mouse & Trackpad.
If you have BTC Mouse & Trackpad, you connect to your mouse in the iOS
Bluetooth Settings. If that does't work, please post a ticket at

you so much for providing us this magic tool. One more question, is there any
way to configure the mouse? Fox example, to adjust the speed or to achieve
multiple clicks with one real click? Or will these functions be integrated in
future version?

Hi. I tried to download webe++ awhile ago from big boss but was unable to as it
was not compatible with iOS 6. While the BTStack that I had downloaded did not
have issues turning on or off I couldn't tell if it worked or not since my sole
purpose to have it is for webe++.
Noticed in Cydia that BTStack had an update to fix iOS 6 compatibility issues I
thought I'd try and see if it was worth trying webe++ again. Sure enough.
BigBoss allows me to purchase. I did so with no problems and updated the
BTStack.
Only problem now is that while trying to pair Webe++ with my PS3. Nothing
happens at all. I'm well aware that a six digit pin code is given with a 30
second prompt. I know this because I tried a hacked free version of Webe++ with
no successful pairing. PS3 would always say there was an error and never would
pair.
Now that I have purchased it I'm sad to say I don't know what I may be doing
wrong. Any help with clear details would be really helpful.
I am running iOS 6 jailbroken from Redsn0w.

@jonny:WeBe++ doesn't work with newer PS3 firmwares. It worked with the one
when we added the PS3 support/icons/etc. Some later FW update must have broken
it. I've marked this issues as "DONE", as BTstack itself works on IOS 6 now.
We'll also investigate the issue with the PS3 in January.
